Please check out the new features the YA Literature Corner has to offer!
At the bottom of the blog you'll see that I've added a Google Book Search gadget. You can now search for the books that we read and discuss right here on the blog. Most of the time you should be able to preview them. You can also search for books in the search box from Amazon.com on the right side of the page. These are two great tools you can use to find the books you are interested in right here in the Lit. Corner! Please post suggestions of books you'd like to read after we finish The Giver!
Also, I've set up a Google Calendar for this book discussion group and have shared it with all of you blog followers. The calendar for the Lit. Corner should now be feeding into your Google Calendar on your iGoogle homepage.
Please note that you should finish reading Chapters 1-10 of The Giver by March 11, 2010. Then, within the next week post your questions and/or comments about the book on the blog. Let's try to finish reading the whole book my March 31, 2010. These target dates are outlined on the Calendar.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Hey Ms. F!
ReplyDeleteI saw your email in my inbox about sharing the YA Lit. Corner calendar with me. However, I can't get it to feed into my Google Calendar on my iGoogle homepage. Any tips or tricks to help me accomplish this?
Thanks for your help!
~Lola
Hi Lola!
ReplyDeleteHere's what you do:
First, expand your Google Calendar on your iGoogle homepage so the calendar is full screen. You can do this by clicking on the link for the "Google Calendar" in the tool bar on the left side of your iGoogle page. Once the calendar gadget is expanded, click on the drop down menu next to "Agenda" at the top of the calendar ("Agenda" is the last option on the right). From the drop down menu, you should be able to click a check box that says "Ms. Flamino's YA Literature Corner". After you click that check box, the events that I've set up on the Lit Corner calendar will show up on your own personal calendar and you will be able to see them from your calendar gadget on your iGoogle page.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any trouble. If so, you can come on down to the library at school tomorrow and I'll show you what to do in person. Have a fun night!
~Ms. Flamino
